The 2024 Sustainable Development Summit Forum has come to a successful conclusion!

 

 

On November 15, 2024, EFC Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. successfully held the 2024 Sustainable Development Summit Forum in Shanghai. The theme of this conference is "How Companies Can Develop Resilience from an ESG Perspective", bringing together expert leaders from different industries to explore how companies can achieve sustainable development in the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) era.

 

 

The conference kicked off with a welcome speech by Mr. Chen Qiangqiang, Chairman of EFC, who emphasized the importance of ESG in the current business environment and looked forward to the development opportunities for enterprises in this field.

 

 

Subsequently, Mr. Wang Yangyang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Shanghai Xinzhuang Industrial Zone and Chairman of the Company, and Ms. Zhang Xian, Project Manager of the Investment Promotion Department of Shanghai Xinzhuang Industrial Zone, respectively introduced the current development status and future plans of Shanghai Xinzhuang Industrial Zone.

 

 

Mr. Hu Qingsong, the director of Budweiser (Wenzhou) Beer Co., Ltd., shared his practical experience on how to build a green factory and green supply chain, including energy efficiency management, solar photovoltaic power generation, green logistics, zero solid waste management, digital energy conservation, water resource management, and other practical cases of the factory, demonstrating Budweiser's ability to implement sustainable development goals.

 

 

The morning agenda also includes two roundtable forums, one focusing on sustainable development and the other on biodiversity conservation.
 
Jason Wang, Director of the Sustainable Development Division of EFC, chaired the Sustainable Development Roundtable Forum. Ivanna Zhang, Senior Manager of the Sustainable Development Department, Jeanne Wang, EHS Manager of JA Solar Technology Group, and Ms. Wang Ying, Global EHS and Sustainable Development Director of Fuqirui Pharmaceutical R&D, discussed in depth the relationship between EHS and ESG, and how to incorporate ESG into the process of enterprise development from different perspectives.

 

 

After the tea break, Ms. Song Qing, a senior engineer at the Shanghai Academy of Landscape Science Planning and Research, brought us an interpretation of the theme of "Shanghai Biodiversity Conservation Strategy and Action Plan". She introduced us to the process of global biodiversity policy changes, shared the background of Shanghai's biodiversity conservation strategy and action plan preparation, and provided detailed interpretations of each plan to help companies understand the current and future trends in biodiversity policy development. She also shared cases of companies participating in biodiversity conservation.

 

 

Subsequently, Clark Qiao, Senior Advisor for Sustainable Development at EFC, chaired the Biodiversity Roundtable Forum. Ms. Song Qing, Senior Engineer at Shanghai Academy of Landscape Science Planning and Research, Ms. Yu Linlin, Director of Shanghai Conservation Project at the Nature Conservancy (TNC), and Mr. Guo Taoran, Founder of Shanghai Urban Wilderness Workshop, jointly discussed and shared the relationship between biodiversity and enterprises, trends in biodiversity policies, and provided suggestions on how enterprises can take action on biodiversity.

 

 

The conference also held a ceremony for sustainable development strategic cooperation. The signing ceremony was attended by Kilian Avil é s, senior vice president of DEKRA Asia Pacific, managing director of Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong, Ms. Song Qing, senior engineer of Shanghai Academy of Landscape Science Planning and Research, Lin Han, director and vice president of Shanghai Baocha New Energy Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., Gary Tang, CEO of Huanyi Technology, Mr. Jia Qiang, senior vice president of EFC Technology, and Jason Wang, director of EFC Technology's sustainable development business department, as representatives, to jointly provide enterprises with technical services in sustainable development, environment and biodiversity, low-carbon and carbon trading finance, and help enterprises build sustainable development capacity.

Subsequently, it was the second Business Sustainability Awards ceremony. The conference is honored to invite the Vice Dean of Jiangsu University as the award presenter and present awards to six companies that have made outstanding contributions in the field of sustainable development, namely Ford China, Geely Automobile Central Research Institute, Jiangsu Zhengli New Energy Battery Technology Co., Ltd., Kunshan Chengjian Green and Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., Wanguo Data Holdings Co., Ltd., and Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Industry Co., Ltd.

 

 

The afternoon agenda was equally exciting, with Sam Kang, Director of ESG and Regulatory Compliance at EFC, giving an in-depth explanation on "Compliance Pain Points and Management Strategies for Chinese Enterprises Going Global". He provided a systematic explanation of the common compliance management loopholes, difficulties in overseas compliance management, and case experiences of environmental protection in helping client companies successfully go global. At the same time, he focused on analyzing the compliance management strategies of the United States and Indonesia.

 

 

The Enterprise Compliance and Going Global Roundtable Forum was chaired by Sam Kang, with Mr. Yan Dongming, Minister of Geely Automobile Central Research Institute, Bessy Ma, Senior Project Manager of Microsoft Environmental Compliance, Governance and Sustainable Development, and Ben Chow, Executive Director of EFC Environment One Southeast Asia, participating in the discussion. The roundtable fully discussed and shared experiences on supply chain compliance control and due diligence under the background of CSDDD, key points of compliance management for factory construction in Southeast Asian countries, and key points of compliance management for the automotive industry chain.

 

 

At the EHS Management Roundtable Forum sharing session, we were honored to invite Mr. Luo Cui, Ford China Safety Manager, Mr. Chen Jinyuan, EHS Director of Zhenge Biotechnology, Mr. Charles, Director of EFC Chemical and Semiconductor Division, and Mr. Zhang Jianhua, Deputy General Manager of Huanyi Safety and Emergency Management Division. The guests had a lively discussion on safety culture. They unanimously believe that safety culture is the core of enterprise EHS operation, which can profoundly influence employee behavior and the company's safety operation performance. Regarding how to create a suitable safety culture, the sharing guests proposed the need to combine the characteristics of the enterprise, strengthen safety leadership, and create an atmosphere of full participation. Based on the actual situation of the enterprise, promoting the construction of safety culture requires paying attention to the implementation of the EHS system. Through positive system design and incentives, employees can truly accept and practice it. Faced with technological advancements and changes in the external environment, EHS managers need to keep up with the times and continuously optimize their management system. As advocates of safety culture, every participant should become a guardian of the sustainable development of the enterprise. This discussion provides valuable ideas for deepening the construction of safety culture.

Jason Yang, the head of operations for Benchmark Gensuite China, gave an excellent speech on how artificial intelligence can change EHS and ESG management. Jason shared the relationship between AI and EHS, as well as the application of AI in EHS, through AI technology solutions such as PSI and risk control. Jason conducted in-depth discussions on how to promote EHS culture and high-risk management through AI.

 

 

At the end of the conference, Ms. Jin Yuqi, Senior Acoustic Engineer at Shanghai Huiyun Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. (top left), Mr. Xue Kebing, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Hongji Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. (top right), Mr. Tian Xinli, Partner and Chief Solution Expert at Shanghai Tanlian Technology Co., Ltd. (bottom left), and Mr. Zhao Zude, Director of Operations at Shanghai Xuanjia Safety Equipment Co., Ltd. (bottom right), respectively shared on the application of ESG principles in noise reduction technology innovation, equipment and resilience, digital carbon management applications for enterprises, and PPE for sustainable development of enterprises.

 

 

The conference was successfully concluded in the closing speech of Gary Tang, CEO of EFC. Gary Tang expresses his gratitude to all participants and looks forward to continuing to work together in the future to promote the resilience of enterprises from an ESG perspective.
